The worktop is made of chipboard and laminated either on one or on both sides with a decorative cover. The front edge is protected by a border (3) with rounded edges made of aluminum (4). Several pins (4.1) protruding from the rear surface of the edging (3) can be used for joining the border (3) to the worktop. A thin layer of stainless steel (5) is attached to the front or to front and rear of the edging (3) in order to improve the protective quality and the appearance of the device without the disadvantages of a solid steel edging.
