A computer detects an IP address of an electronic device connected to the LAN.The computer automatically references communication protocol specification data indicating a communication protocol with the electronic device contained in remote maintenance control data held in advance or acquired from the electronic device.By using the communication protocol indicated by the communication protocol specification data and the IP address,the computer communicates with the electronic device and performs maintenance of an apparatus to be monitored.
