<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scattering preventing apparatus, which can prevent scattering of small ruptured portions of an instrument panel upon swelling of an air bag. SOLUTION: An annular slit 2c is formed on the back 2b of an instrument panel body 2. When the air bag of an air bag unit 8 swells, the swelling air bag ruptures the instrument panel body 2 from the slit 2c. On the back 2b side of an instrument panel body 2, a cover 11 consisting of a metal plate is arranged, where the cover 11 comprises a base 11a fixed to a support bracket 6 supporting the air bag unit 8, and a reinforcing part 11c integrally formed with the base 11a via a curved part 11b and can be swung from the back 2b side to the surface 2a side of the instrument panel body 2. The reinforcing part 11c is an almost a similar figure to a portion 2d, which is enclosed with the slit 2c, of the instrument panel body 2, and is slightly smaller than the portion 2d, to which the reinforcing part 11c is fixed by means of an adhesive 12 having adhesiveness and elasticity.</p> |
