摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the butt welding of different thickness plate materials using laser which can provide a smooth welding cross section of the toe of the weld bead without stress risers when carrying out the welding of different thickness plate materials using laser. SOLUTION: When carrying out the butt welding of the different thickness plate materials of a thick plate 3 and a thin sheet 4, the two materials 3, 4 are butted in such a way that one sides of the plane surfaces which are vertical to the thickness direction of the plate materials 3, 4 are set on the same plane each other, and flashes protruding from one plane surface of the thick plate 3 and the other plane surface of the thin sheet 4 of the opposite side are treated with gas, a grinder or the like so that an inclined plane 6 can be formed at an angle of the valueθof the end surface of the thick plate 3 to the extension of the butting plane surface becoming (one half of the converging angle of the laser) <θ<90 deg.. The laser 1 is beamed to the welding materials 3, 4 from the side which formed the inclined plane 6 of the thick plate 3 in such a way that the light axis of the laser 1 corresponds to the extension of the butting plane surface 5. As a result, the welded bead toe can avoid the generation of stress risers and can be provided with the melting depth corresponding to the capacity of the laser 1 to beam the laser 1 in parallel with the plate thickness direction.</p>
