PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotation angle sensing device for enhancing resolution of an absolute angle while preventing the device from being large-sized. SOLUTION: In the device, both a plurality of first presence identification slits 13 and a plurality of second presence identification slits 14 for absolute angle detection are circularly arranged on a rotary table 12. Besides a plurality of second presence identification slits 15 are circularly arranged on a gear 20. Photoelectric sensors 16, 17 detect the presence of the first presence identification slits 13, while photoelectric sensors 18, 21 detect the presence of the second presence identification slits 14, 15. A processor 22 calculates the absolute angle based on both the reference signals from the photoelectric sensors 16, 17 and the output signals from the photoelectric sensors 18, 21.
