PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold for thermoforming in which percentage of rejects such as cracks and blisters caused by shortage of vent of gas can be decreased, by rapidly vent the gas generated outside from a molded article in a thermoforming process of a friction material, and to provide a method for thermoforming. SOLUTION: In the mold for thermoforming with a force and a pressure mold for molding the friction material by heating and pressing a perform of a raw material of the friction material and a pressure plate and integrally fixing them to mold the friction material, the mold for thermoforming of the friction material and the method for thermoforming using it is constituted in such a way that a part of the mold corresponding to the central part of the molded article is made to be a split mold, a heater for locally heating the central part of the molded article is built in the split mold, and temperature of the split mold during molding of the friction material is made higher than the temperature of the mold main body.
