PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new halogenosilane having a cyclic acid anhydride group and a silicon-based alkali-soluble resin obtained by the reaction of the halogenosilane so that new synthetic methods, surface finishing methods for materials, modification of resins, the production of new resins and so on in the field of organic synthesis and other fields may become possible. SOLUTION: The halogenosilane represented by general formula and the alkali-soluble resins obtained by the reaction of the halogenosilane. In formula, R1 and R2 are each methyl group or a halogen, R3 is a 2-6C alkylene group and X is a halogen. The cyclic acid anhydride group easily receives a ring- opening reaction by hydrolysis to give dicarboxylic acid and works as the alkali-soluble group.
