MOUNTING STRUCTURE FOR STEERING COLUMN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering column mounting structure improving the workability of mounting the steering column on a vehicle body. SOLUTION: This steering column mounting structure is a structure for mounting a steering column 1 on a vehicle body side bracket 16 via a connecting means. The connecting means has a structure to temporally retain the steering column 1 at a lower position than a regular position. The steering column 1 has a stepped part 14 capable of engaging with an edge of an insertion through hole 13 provided on a dash panel 12. The stepped part 14 is formed at a position to temporally retain the steering column 1 at a designated rotational position thereof under a condition that the stepped part 14 engages with the edge of the insertion through hole 13.
