The drain has a siphon with inner cylinder (9) connected to a drain outlet (8), and an outer cylinder (10), partially enclosing the inner cylinder, and closed at the top by an end wall (11). The outer cylinder is vertically moveable between a first position, in which the flow passage between an intake (5) and the outlet is open, and a second position, in which the passage is closed mainly airtight. In second position, the end wall is located at the top of the inner cylinder, and the underside of the outer cylinder is located at the base (3) of the drain. The cylinders engage via a threaded connection. The outer cylinder is connected to a profiled operating bar (15).
