SOLUTION: In the recognition device 214 recognizing as images two reference marks 12 and 12 formed on the carriage 2 loaded with a plurality of the liquid droplet discharge heads 3, a recognition camera 353 recognizing as images each of the two reference marks 12 and 12, and a moving means 211 for relatively moving the carriage 2 and the recognition camera 353 in a X-axis and Y-axis directions. The two reference marks 12 and 12 are brought into view of the recognition camera 353 by relatively moving the camera in the X-axis direction or in the Y-axis direction with the moving means 211.
