PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutter for a plate material wherein a circular saw or a knife edge is properly used according to a kind of the material to be worked by cutting and an appropriate cutting work conforming to characteristics can be carried out. SOLUTION: The plate material W fixed by pressing onto a table 2 by a clamping means 30 is processed by cutting with an edge tool travelling by being projected from a slit 3a for travelling the edge tool. The edge tool is a circular saw 17 fitted to a rotary shaft 16 or a knife blade 43 fitted to an edge tool post 42. Cutting work is carried out by detaching the knife blade 43 when the circular saw 17 is used or by detaching the circular saw 17 when the knife blade 43 is used.
