PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circulating type grain dryer capable of preventing burning-scorching of a grain and overheat of a grain gathering chamber by instantly performing coping treatment without causing a time lag when the drying grain stays in the grain gathering chamber of a high temperature. SOLUTION: This circulating type grain dryer 1 has a refining chamber 2, the grain gathering chamber 3, a far infrared radiation radiating part 5, and grain circulating means 7, 8, and 9. A grain stay detecting device is arranged in the grain gathering chamber 3. This grain stay detecting device has a state change detecting means 11 and a cooling means 14 for detecting a state change in the grain gathering chamber 3 by a change in a flowing state, for example, a change in a presence range and a temperature change in the grain when the grain stays on a grain gathering plate 10.
