<p>A printing cylinder assembly (1) including a printing shell (2) on which a printing surface (3) may be provided, and a pair of drive shaft ends (6,7) that hold the shell (2) therebetween. The drive shaft ends (6,7) are connected together by a hydraulic coupling (10) between a tie rod (8) of one of the drive shaft ends (7) and a receiving portion (15) of the other drive shaft end (6). The drive shaft ends (6,7) also connect with the ends of the shell (2) through keys and keyways (13,14). This provides a versatile and easily used assembly, in which the drive shaft ends (6,7) can simply and quickly be changed for different printing machines. Also, torque from the drive shaft end (6,7) that is being driven can transfer to the other (undriven) drive shaft end (6,7) through the shell (2) rather than through the hydraulic coupling (10).</p> |
