PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inflammable gas sensor which is hardly affected by variation of H2 O concentration in atmosphere. SOLUTION: The inflammable gas sensor is equipped with a first electrode 3 and a second electrode 4 which are provided in contact with a proton conductive layer 2, a gas diffusion control portion 6 provided between a gas atmosphere under measurement and the first electrode 3, and supporters (1a, 1b) for supporting the proton conductive layer 2, the first electrode 3, the second electrode 4 and the gas diffusion control portion 6. Inflammable gas in the gas under measurement which is introduced through the gas diffusion control portion 6 is dissociated, decomposed or reacted to generate proton by applying a voltage between the first electrode 3 and the second electrode 4, and the concentration of the inflammable gas is determined on the basis of limiting current generated by lading the proton thus generated from the first electrode 3 side through the proton conductive layer 2 to the second electrode 4 side. The proton conductive layer 2 is formed of polymer electrolyte, and the thickness thereof is set to 0.08 mm or more. |
