PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Raman amplifier having high degree of freedom for designing a device considering Raman amplification and dispersion compensation, respectively. SOLUTION: On a signal light propagation route from an input end (101) up to an output end (102), optical fiber (121) for Raman amplification included in an optical amplifier part, and dispersion compensating optical fiber (132) included in an optical amplifier part are arranged in a state optically connected with each other. The optical amplifier part and the dispersion compensation part are arranged as optical devices independent of each other, thereby designs each device without being restricted by mutual design conditions.
