PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cemented carbide-made cutting tool with a surface clad exerting excellent heat plastic deformability resistance in high velocity cutting. SOLUTION: This cutting tool is made by forming a rigid clad layer comprising (a)-(d) below, (a) as a lower layer, having an average layer thickness of 0.5-10μm, any of them being formed by a vapor deposition, and a single layer having either of the composite nitride layer of Ti-Al having a composition formula: (Ti1- XAlX)N and (Ti1-x -AlX)C1- YNY or the composite nitride-carbide layer of the same kinds of materials, or a plurality of layers having both of them, (b) as an intermediate layer, having the average layer thickness of 1-5μm, a layer in which a crystal structure is made to have theα-type crystal structure of a heated transformation from an aluminum oxide layer of which the crystal structure is formed in aκ-type or aθ-type by the vapor deposition and having structure in which a generated crack by the heated transformation is dispersedly distributed uniformly, (c) as an upper layer, having the average layer thickness of 2-10μm, and the aluminum oxide layer in which the crystal structure is formed in theα-type by the vapor deposition, (d) as a superficial layer in accordance with necessity, a titanium nitride layer formed in the average layer thickness of 0.5-2μm by a vapor deposition.
