PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tide protection plate device capable of being stored in a shallow storage groove of small area, requiring no drive means, coping with high water levels, and being inexpensive to construct. SOLUTION: In the tide protection plate device for preventing intrusion of rainwater or seawater through an opening in a structure, the storage groove is formed in the floor face of the opening in the structure. One end of a lower water cutoff plate is rotatably journaled to the structure side of the storage groove and the other end of the lower water cutoff plate is rotatably journaled to one end of an upper water cutoff plate. During storage, the device is stored in the storage groove with the upper and lower water cutoff plates folded into a parallel condition so that the surface of the lower water cutoff plate is at the same height as the floor face. During use, the upper and lower water cutoff plates are placed upright from the storage groove, and using engagement means provided at free ends on both sides of the upper water cutoff plate, the upper and lower water cutoff plates are fixedly engaged with columns provided on the structure.
