PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To uniformly heat a material to be treated without causing adhesion of the material to be treated to the inner surface of a container by thoroughly stirring the powdery material to be treated. SOLUTION: With the container stored in a furnace body 12 inclined at a designated angleθ(about 60 deg.) with respect to the vertical direction by an inclining mechanism part 22, while the container is rotated around its axis by a rotating mechanism part 24, the material to be treated in the container is heated by a heating part. At the time, the powdery material to be treated put in a position remote from the bottom of the container is spirally revolved and simultaneously lowered toward the bottom of the container, and the material to be treated put at the bottom or in a position near the bottom is spirally revolved and raised in the direction of going away from the bottom of the container.
