PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high responsiveness and high reliability of an ink jet head. SOLUTION: A resilient wall 47 which is deformable by pressure to be generated in a pressure generating chamber 4 is provided in the pressure generating chamber 4 using a diaphragm 48 having a piezoelectric element 40 laminated thereon as a bottom wall. Furthermore, an opposed wall 43 is disposed outside of the pressure generating chamber 4 opposed to the resilient wall 47 so that the resilient wall 47 is allowed to come in contact with the opposed wall 43, when the resilient wall 47 is deformed by the pressure of the pressure generating chamber 4. Thus, the rigidity of the pressure generating chamber 4 is enhanced at the time of ink ejection to eject ink drops at a high speed. After the ejection of ink, the resilient wall 47 separates from the opposed wall 43 to reduce the rigidity of the pressure generating chamber 4 to relieve the ink pressure.
