A portable barbeque has a removable cover and has the edges rounded to enable the user to grip and carry the unit. To use the barbeque the cover is removed exposing a grille which is gas fired and which has a control knob in one edge. The cooker can have handgrips for ease of carrying and can have a thermally insulating outer cover. A drawer holds cooking/eating utensils while a gas cartridge is located on one side in the base of the unit.
