PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module in which optical components constituting the optical module are easily and accurately aligned and properties after assembling are stable, and a method for manufacturing the optical module. SOLUTION: A flexible coil member 14 as a position adjusting means is interposed between a housing 10 and a collimator 12. After the housing 10 and the collimator 12 are joined to the coil member 14, the coil member 14 is slightly moved and aligned so as to match the center line of the housing 10 with an optical axis of the collimator 12. Fused solder 18 adheres to each junction surface, fills a gap around a location where the housing 10 and the collimator 12 contact a wire 16, and also wholly adheres to a part except the junction surface of the coil member 14. The solder 18 is solidified and the junction surfaces adhere to each other, and also, the flexible coil member 14 is hardened turned to a rigid body.
