PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a biphenol without quality problems having fast reaction rate. SOLUTION: The production method of a biphenol represented by formula (I) (wherein R<1> is H, an alkyl, a phenyl substituted alkyl, a phenyl, a cycloalkyl, or an alkyl substituted cycloalkyl; R<2> is an alkyl, a phenyl substituted alkyl, a phenyl, a cycloalkyl, or an alkyl substituted cycloalkyl; R<3> is H or an alkyl) is characterized by reacting a phenol represented by formula (II) (wherein R<1> , R<2> and R<3> are described above) with a hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a base in a reaction vessel whose material contacting the reaction liquid is comprised of an iron or an iron containing material.
