PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel benzene derivative having an excellent action for inhibiting bone resorption. SOLUTION: A compound having the following general formula, [wherein, R<1> is a halogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl group, a 1-6C halogenoalkyl group, a 1-6C alkoxyl group, a phenyl group which may have substituted groups such as hydroxyl groups; R<2> is a hydrogen atom or a carboxyl group or the like; R<4> is a hydrogen atom, a 1-6C alkyl group, a 1-6C alkyl group which is substituted with carboxyl groups or an aralkyl group; further, A is a single bond, a 1-4C alkylene group, or a 1-4C alkylene group which is substituted with amine groups or 1-6C alkanoylamino groups], and an ester of the same or a pharmacologically acceptable salt of the same.
