Class 20 (2) Two sheet metal structural members, e.g. a floor beam 1 and stud 2 of flattened-U cross section, are secured together web to web by means of depressions 3, 4 formed in the webs which together constitute a cavity receiving a circular disc 5, the depressions being enclosed by caps 7, 8 and the assembly secured together by a nut and bolt 11. The aperture in the disc 5 is screw threaded and is engaged by the threads of the bolt 11. The cap 7 forms part of a strut 13 integral with a horizontal leg 15 secured by bolts 17 to an inverted channel section girder 16, whilst the cap 8 is part of a strut 20 with a bent lower edge 24 fitting into a bent portion 25 of the leg 15 and held therein by bent lips 26.</p> |
