PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat pump type water heater capable of reducing an increase in running costs by preventing heating efficiency from decreasing. SOLUTION: The heat pump type water heater heats liquid for hot-water supply by use of a heat pump cycle, stores the heated liquid in the upper part of a hot water storage tank 2 of a water heater body 1, returns the liquid from the lower portion of the tank 2 to the heat pump body 10 serving as a heat source, and stops heating action once the temperature of the liquid returned to the lower portion of the tank 2 or the heat pump body 10 reaches a preset temperature lower than hot water storage temperature. The water heater has a current-carrying time zone determining means 8a for distinguishing between the daytime zone and the night time zone, and a heating action stopping temperature changing means 8b for changing a heating action stopping temperature T2 for the daytime zone to make it lower than a heating action stopping temperature T1 for the night time zone. |
