PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection/transmission type liquid crystal display device capable of efficiently utilizing incident light to obtain bright display even at both reflection display and transmission display. SOLUTION: Electrodes 4 and 5 where a plurality of pixels in respectively mutually facing areas are provided on inner surfaces of a front side substrate 2 being an observation side of display and a rear side substrate 3 facing the front side substrate 2. Between the substrates 2 and 3, a liquid crystal layer 13 is provided, and a reflection/transmission layer 8 is also provided on an inner surface of the rear side substrate 3, which is composed of a combined layer of a plurality of inclination reflection films 9 inclining in one direction with respect to normal lines of the surfaces of the substrates 2 and 3 and light- transmitting layers 10 provided between the inclination reflection films 9 while the plurality of inclination reflection films 9 are formed at a pitch smaller than the width of the inclination reflection films 9 seen in the direction of the normal lines over the entire areas corresponding to at least the plurality of pixels. |
