PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold release film which is easy of a foreign matter inspection by a cross-Nicol method when applied t a polarizing plate laminate or a phase difference plate laminate by giving attention to a film to be the base material of the mold release film, controls the occurrence of a light interference color so that foreign matter can be detected surely even in a large polarizing plate, does not need to separate a use region corresponding to a user as when a biaxially oriented polyester film is used as a base material, and can substantially make the entire width in the width direction be used when applied to a use such as TFT in which foreign matter has to be strictly removed and a method for producing the mold release film. SOLUTION: In the mold release film, a curing layer (2) of an addition reaction type silicon peeling agent is formed at least on one side of a uniaxially oriented polyester film (1), in which the maximum distortion of its orientation main axis is 10 degrees or below. An electrification preventive layer (3) is formed at least on one side of the film (1), and the curing layer (2) can be formed at least on one side of the film (1) with the layer (3).
