A pharmaco-dietary composition comprising: <SL> <LI>a) a hydrolysate of amino acids and/or peptides having a relative molecular mass between 10<SP>2</SP> and 2x10<SP>4</SP> daltons obtained from proteins; <LI>b) b -alanine in an amount equal to, or greater than, 0.1% of the aminoacyl total of the hydrolysate of amino acids and/or peptides. </SL> The said composition may optionally further comprise (c) a mixture of oligonucleotides, nucleotides or nucleosides obtained by hydrolysis of nucleic acids from yeast, (d) protein extracts having a hydrolytic activity, (e) a mixture of D-ribose and/or xylitol or (f) a mixture of vitamins, vitamin-like factors, minerals, oligonucleotides, carbohydrates and fibres. Such compositions are of use in the reduction of excess weight, preventing aging and assisting in the treatment of disorders such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis, menopausal syndromes, senile cerebral disorders, psychophysical stress, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, cutaneous or dermal aging and benign prostate hypertrophy. |
