The sun canopy, comprising a cover (2) on a frame with lateral supporting members (1) attached to front and rear fixing points (5), has each fixing point fastened to the vehicle bodywork by a clamp also used to hold the ends of tensioning lines (6). The frame supports are in the form of two parallel arches which are held apart by a transverse stay (3). In variants the frame can be in the form of crossing arches or transverse bars mounted above the vehicle roof on supports.
