PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Western-style toilet with a lifting function by which a user can be readily seated thereon and prompt seating is effected to prevent the user from irritating. SOLUTION: The Western-style toilet includes a lifting function for lifting a toilet seat 11. The Western-style toilet senses the user's seating on the toilet seat 11, the toilet seat 11 starts to lower when the user is seated thereon, and the change of the user's seated state is senses to lower the toilet seat 11 while monitoring it.
