PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus provided with a doctor blade, which performs an extremely thin and uniform coating free from coating unevenness in scraping type coating. SOLUTION: The coating apparatus 10 is provided with a pre-coating apparatus 14 for applying a coating liquid of the quantity than required quantity on a continuous running web 12 and the doctor blade 16 for scraping the excess of the coating liquid. An extremely thin coating layer of e.g. 2μm is formed by scraping the excessive coating liquid with a working surface 32 of the doctor blade 16. The doctor blade 16 is highly precisely finished to prevent the occurrence of coating thickness distribution and for example, is finished to be <=5μm width in straightness and to be <=2μm in surge height on the working surface.
