PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine which can prevent the leakage of a lubricant oil which contaminates an item to be sewed and, at the same time, has durability. SOLUTION: A joint mechanism container 16, a needle mechanism container 18, a feed mechanism container 17, and an upper looper mechanism container 21 are fixed on a sewing machine main frame. The joint mechanism container 16 is tightly sealed and the sliding parts of the joint mechanism fixed inside it are lubricated with a lubricant oil to establish oil lubrication. The sliding parts of at least one of the mechanisms contained in the needle mechanism container 18, the feed mechanism container 17, and the upper looper mechanism container 21 are lubricated with a lubricant grease to establish grease lubrication.
