Method and apparatus for coating elongated bands

A guide (28) and method for use in coating of an elongated band (14) with liquid material prior to its attachment to a substrate. The guide (28) supports the band (14) in a tilted orientation relative to a dispensing outlet (16) of a liquid dispenser (10). The liquid dispenser (10) dispenses a continuous bead or filament of adhesive that wraps around the band (14) to coat the band (14) while it is separate from the substrate (18). The coated band (14) is thereafter bonded to the substrate (18).
