Decoding of a digital audio signal organised in frames comprising a header

A first frame is one unit longer than the second frame and, if decoding starts at the place pointed at by a pointer LPOI for the calculated and rounded-down variable length, then no sync word is formed at this place and a check is performed at one unit further on to determine if a sync word is present. If a sync word is found, this frame is decoded without taking into account length variable information, otherwise decoding is started one sub-unit later. AN Independent claim is included for a signal decoding method.
