Method for input of information into an electronic device that has an input arrangement that comprises a planar input field and an activation zone, which can be moved over the input field. The input field has a trace-recording region for recording movement of the activation zone and one or more function selection regions for selecting an operation assigned to it. Selection is achieved by placing the activation zone or cursor over a function selection region for a given time. When the cursor is moved, selection ceases. An Independent claim is made for an electronic device with means for selection of functions by movement of an activation zone over an input field.
