PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooking apparatus capable of automatically cooking an object to obtain a uniform and stable state of broiled object. SOLUTION: The cooking apparatus is characterized in that it comprises a thermal sensor 4a for measuring the temperature within a grill housing, a heat control means 33 for controlling the quantity of heating, and a drive control means 68 for controlling the heat control means according to the measured temperature of the thermal sensor, in that the drive control means has a judge means 93-3 for judging the state of broiled object, in that the judge means for judging the state of broiled object calculates a heating time from the temperature increasing rate of the thermal sensor and is constructed to vary the judging coefficient for judging the state of broiled object according to the temperature of the thermal sensor at the start time of heating, and in that the heating time is set by automatically setting the quantity of heating through an accurate judging of the state of broiled object by analyzing the behavior of temperature increasing of the thermal sensor.
