PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for selectively oxidizing carbon monoxide from gas containing carbon monoxide and hydrogen, a method for lowering a concentration of carbon monoxide using the catalyst, and a fuel battery system using the method. SOLUTION: The catalyst is made of at least one kind of metal selected from the group consisting of Pt, Pd, Ru, Au, Rh and Ir carried on an inorganic oxide of which the surface area is 150 m<2> /g or lower and of which the pH at 25 deg.C of water suspension by 10% by mass is 7 or higher. Carbon monoxide in the raw material gas is selectively oxidized to lower a concentration of carbon monoxide. |
