The optical instrument support includes an intermediate platform supported on micro-metric vertical actuators (22,24). A motor-reducer drive assembly (35) acts on a worm screw engaging a toothed wheel extending around the base of the rotating platform (38), in order to rotate the platform through a precisely defined angle. The support for an optical instrument includes an intermediate platform (28) made of rigid material and fixed to prevent rotation relative to the ground. This platform is supported on at least three micro-metric vertical actuators (22,24) which are distributed around the space between the platform and the ground plate (1). The vertical actuators comprise differential screws with a double sensitivity. A motor-reducer drive assembly (35) without any angular play acts on a worm screw which engages a toothed wheel extending around the base of the rotating platform (38). The motor-reducer assembly is rigidly attached to the intermediate platform.
