<p>Feeder/cutter system for pneumatic tires consists of a dispenser for the reinforcing wire and a cutter which cuts the wire into predetermined lengths as it passes between two guide tubes. The feeder/cutter consists of a dispenser for the reinforcing wire (3) and a cutter (9) which cuts the wire into predetermined lengths as it passes between two guide tubes (40, 41). The cutter comprises a cutting implement (92) mounted on the edge of a first rotary disc (91) and interacting with an anvil (93) on a second disc (90) facing the first. It has a drive to move the cutting implement and the first and second discs so they make contact with the wire at prescribed intervals. The discs rotate at a speed close to the linear speed of the advancing wire, and after each length of wire has been cut it is applied to a support with a rubber coating, to which it adheres.</p> |
