The chlorination of ethylene is performed with a gaseous mixture (I) of nitrogen monoxide and chlorine in a chlorination zone (2) heating at elevated temp. to form vinyl chloride. (I) is obtained by dissociation of nitrosyl chloride and by heating it at 350-500 degrees C before introduction into zone (1). The chlorination reaction occurs in presence of an oxychlorination catalyst (copper chloride) at 100-300 degrees C. The product is recovered in solvent (1,2-dichloroethane).
|
