PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject food capable of exhibiting excellent shape retainability, easy handleability, food material protectability and putrefaction preventability and useful in a food material field, including bean curd, soybean curd refuses, seasoned vegetables, mashed potato and salads by covering the outer surface of a food material with a mannan paste coating film. SOLUTION: This mannan-coated food 1 comprises a food material 2 whose outer surface is covered with a mannan paste coating film 3. The mannan-coated food 1 is obtained e. g. by continuously drawing a flowable mannan paste to form a coating film, injecting a food material 2 into the coating film 3, crosswisely cutting and sealing the upper and lower ends of the food material- covered cylindrical coating film 3, and subsequently thermally boiling the obtained food. The food is given in the shape such as a spherical, straw bag-like, cubic, rectangular parallelepiped-like, conical or triangular rice ball-like shape. |
