摘要 <p>PURPOSE: To judge the misdetection of rotational input and to offer a reliable, exact input by providing two electric signal conversion means so that the pulses issued from the rotation detecting section have specified phase shifts. CONSTITUTION: A rotation detector 102 with two or more slits 103 is used for rotation detection. Two sets of electric signal conversion means are disposed to obtain two kinds of output pulses whose phases mutually shift by 120 degrees are issued from the rotation detection section. To form these electric signal conversion means, light emitting diodes 104, 105 and, in opposition to these diodes, photodiodes 106, 107 are disposed. Light emitted from the light emitting diodes 104, 105 are sensed by the photodiodes 106, 107 to send the sensed signals to the detection circuits 108, 109. The minimum unit of the rotation detecting section is composed of region 1 and region 2, each consisting of three detection sections and accordingly six detecting sections in total, and each detection section of the regions 1 and that of the region 2 are alternately arranged. The CPU 110 determines the direction and the position of rotation by means of three kinds of output signals fed from the rotation detection region 2 using a program and determines misdetection depending on the presence of output signals (L, L) fed from the region 1.</p>
