<p>Hard, wear-resistant coatings for pref. working (slidable surfaces of friction bearings, pistons and cylinders of IC engines, are applied by immersing article to be plated in metallising bath heated to 85 - 95 degrees C (88 - 92 degrees C) containing 20 - 150 (pref. 50 - 120) g/l non-metallic foreign body articles of 7 mu m (0.1 - 2 mu m) particle size, while both article to be plated and metallising bath are kept constantly in motion (e.g. by stirrer). Pref. metallising bath is a Ni-, Cr- or Cu-plating bath, and pref. foreign bodies are metal oxides, -carbides and/or borides, a more pref. foreign body particle mixture being 3 parts fine-grained metal oxide, 2 parts fine-grained and 1 part coarse-grained metal carbide.</p> |
