<p>The frozen food marker consists of a double plastic capsule: an inner perforated capsule containing a frozen mixture of alcohol and water, in a ratio depending on the temperature required (e.g. 10 per cent alcohol for a temperature of -10 [deg]C), and a food coloring agent; and an outer capsule with pads of an absorbent material. The marker is placed inside the frozen food package, and if the food becomes defrosted as a result of a rise in temperature above the set level, the colored mixture of water and alcohol melts and the liquid is absorbed by the pads, showing irreversibly that defrosting has taken place.</p> |
