<p>PURPOSE:To provide a paper feed device which can easily correspond to the jamming of a paper and carry out steady paper feed. CONSTITUTION:In a paper feed device 51 having two paper feed cassettes 52, 52a above and below, a plurality of guide projection stripes 69 is provided on an end wall 6 in a downstream in a paper feed direction at least in an upper stage paper feed cassette. In correspondence to the guide projection stripes 69, a guide projection stripe 81 is provided opposite to the guide projection stripes 69 on a base plate 54, and a guide path 120 for guiding a recording paper 57a prepared on a lower stage is formed of the guide projection stripe 69 and the guide projection stripe 81. Protecting projections 77, 77a to protect the guide projection stripes 69, 69a are formed on both the side walls of the paper feed cassettes 52, 52a.
