A screw extruder (10) is followed by a gear pump (1) and the latter by a filter (20), the position of which does not reduce the filling pressure in front of the gear pump. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a use of the equipment for conveying elastomers, in particular rubbers; (b) a first method for operating the equipment in which when metal is detected operation of the screw (11) and gear pump (1) are halted and a second method in which an indication is given to an operator who can remove the metal without halting the process.
