The indicator light includes a sealed box, housing the light source. This source is mounted on the inside of the front cover glass, and produces light, all of which passes via a rear reflector before emerging through the outer regions of the cover glass. The lamp is not seen directly from outside, producing a more uniform distribution of light. The indicator light unit for a vehicle includes a box (6) mounted in a recess in the vehicle bodywork (9). The box comprises a reflective surface (12) which forms part of the closed box together with a transparent front glass (7). The light emitting source (1) is mounted on the inside surface of the front glass, in a support (15). Light emerging from the source is directed towards the reflective surface (6), and then reflected out through the front glass. A back-reflecting region on the front glass ensures that the portion of glass immediately surrounding the light source serves as an external reflector. |
