The fence post (1), designed to be fitted with mesh panels (2) made from horizontal (3) and vertical (4) rods with local horizontal ribs (5), has edges that are curled over to receive vertical end rods (8) on the panels. The curled edges are divided into sections by slots at intervals corresponding to the distance between horizontal panel rods and have additional slots for the ribs (5). The rods (8) are fitted into the curled edges with the aid of a special tool with hooked ends.
