The control for a motor vehicle robot gearbox has an actuator (17) controlled by a circuit (CC2) to generate an impression of gear changing perceptible to the user. A lever (MCC) is connected to the actuator to provide a simulated gear change. A circuit (CC1) decodes the last position of the lever to control the gear changes required by the driver by sending control signals to the gearbox change control actuator. Claims include a method of controlling the gearbox using the circuit.
