The turbocharger has a variable turbine geometry (8) associated with a turbine (3) to adjustably set a radial inlet cross section for the flow to the rotor. The geometry is embodied as a guide cascade ring with vanes distributed over the periphery encompassing the turbine. The minimum distance between two adjacent vanes obey a specified relationship with respect to the turbine rotor diameter and the number of vanes.
